How to Fortune Tell by Interpreting a Persons Face

Physiognomy or Anthroposomancy is a divinational system by which a persons characteristics and temperament are interpreted from their facial appearance. It is said that a persons face will reflect the spirit of that person and interpreting a persons face reveals his or hers true personality. Records of the art of face reading go back for more than 3,200 years to the Chou dynasty. The book “The simple guide to face reading ” written during the Sung dynasty (960-1279), is still the basic source of information in Asia where physiognomy is more popular than palmistry. Aristotle commended the practice whilst Hippocrates also believed that ones face could reveal future disease.

Most psychics as well as the general public continue to use physiognomy in one way or an other in order to read peoples faces that they come into contact with. A tired drawn look often reveals that an individual is worried or over stretched. A radiant face indicating a sense that things are positive in their lives, with possibilities that their love life or work situation is flourishing. It’s often said that people who avoid looking directly eye to eye are dishonest or have something to hide. Judgements based on the way a person looks are quite common and are often quite accurate; for example he/she has an honest face. Although we inherit our general features, our personal lives and experiences also add considerably to our features. In Japan a practice known as ‘Ninso’ is practised today and incorporates the shape, contour and texture of the face, eyes and hair as well as colouring.

People with ‘circle’ faces are said to be optimistic and social and in touch with their feelings and emotions and have strong ethics They are said to have good business skills but tend to look to others for help in the early days of projects. People with ’square ‘ faces have a bias for practical things and quick to grasp business or concept ideas. They are also said to be good leaders and have a stubborn streak. People with oval faces have the abilities of both the ’square’ and the ‘circle’ face, this being moral instinct, good business skills and a pragmatic attitude towards success. ‘Triangular’ faces indicate people who get bored easily, they are said to have an analytical, questioning mind but tend to feel uncomfortable in social situations.

Physiognomists divide the face into three parts. The first is ‘Forehead’. The second the ‘Middle face’ around the nose area, and the third being the lower part of the face. It is said that if all three section are equal in length it indicates a well-balanced personality, but rather dull. If the forehead is longest area then it indicates a personality in which their head rules their heart. If the middle part is the most dominant then this reveals a capacity for endurance, common sense and a pragmatic attitude to life. A person with a dominant lower part of the face can have difficulties in communicating feelings and emotions and may tend to be cool and calculating.

Other aspects of the face are also taken into consideration, for example long unbroken lines on the forehead can indicate honesty, wavy lines a desire to travel whilst abrupt lines show forthcoming change.

Noses are also significant, a turned up nose is said to indicate a friendly and sociable person, whilst a turned down nose shows someone who is conservative and difficult to please. Nostril size can also play an important part; for example large nostrils indicate a strong character and small ones insecurity and idealism. The main characteristics with regards to chins depend on shape and width. For example a broad chin is supposed to indicate reliability, determination and mental and physical strength. A narrow chin can indicate an introvert, submissive type of person.

Large earlobes indicate future affluence, and an ambitious personality, small ones, some one who may be timid or shy. Ears that are small at the top but large at the bottom tell of someone who is bright and has a good memory. In Japan, ears that are low set on the head are a sign of nobility. Eyebrows that are heavy indicate a strong often overbearing personality whilst thin ones show that a person can be fussy. A gentle curved eyebrow shows some one who is calm and balanced, whilst arched a questioning nature.

Mouths too tell a lot about a person. A curved upwards one shows a good temperament whilst a downward one can indicate an unhappy person. A large mouth shows extravagance and a small one miserly fussy nature.

How Signs, Symbols, and Colors Can Enhance Your Magick Energy

Remember, you don’t need anything external to do Magick. The Magick is inside of you.

But, especially when you are just beginning, certain things can increase your desired effects of Magick (in very big ways).

This is because you are able to draw on the energies added by external tools (which each are imbued with their own energies). More importantly, you draw on the added belief these tools add to your subconscious mind.

Let’s start with color - one of the most basic of energies that you can incorporate into your Magick.

The use of color in your spells can effect the outcome in two different ways.

First, are the Magick properties of the colors themselves. Each color reflects light in a different way, which is composed of a different energy that will have different effects on your Magick.

Here are a list of the colors you can use in your spells, and the type of Magick and how using each of them will effect your spells:

Black - use to ban negativity, in working with that which is hidden and in need of being revealed, in meditations on major life changes, and in connecting with Goddess/Mother energy.
Purple - use for psychic development, personal power, spirituality, prosperity, and connection with spirit world, success.
Green - use for growth, fertility/productivity, financial prosperity, earth connection, rejuvenation, and success.
Dark Green - use against greed and overly ambitious influences.
Bright Green - attracts love, social status, and fertility
Orange - use for energy, growth, and for drawing things toward you (as in drawing wealth toward you in ritual).
Blue - use for spirituality, wisdom, peace, harmony, and well-being.
Light Blue - use for serenity, peace, and stress reduction, meditations.
Dark Blue - use for prophetic dreams, need for laughter, increase of something.
Red - use for courage, love/passion, Father energy, health, and strength.
Gray - use for meditation, neutralizer, creates confusion.
Pink - use for romantic love, friendship, hope, rest, and relief from stress.
Gold - use for God, sun/masculine energy, and prosperity.
Indigo - use for deep meditations, stopping situations (such as gossip).
Brown - use for finding lost things, sometimes earth energy, concentration and study, prosperity, decision-making, and balance.
Magenta - use for higher frequencies, draws intense spiritual power for fast action, promotes spiritual healing.

Second, colors evoke different feelings and emotions within YOU. And the emotions they create can be different for each person. For example, maybe the color Red brings emotions of fear into you (for one reason or another). For another person, maybe the same color red evokes emotions of excitement and passion.

Simply do not use a color if it brings negative emotion to you, or none at all. Use the colors that deliver strong positive emotions of happiness, love, adventure, and excitement!

So use the specific Magick energies of colors above, and also use colors that bring strong positive emotions into your heart for spells filled with intense power.

Many people wonder how a deck of cards can tell us anything but as we study the cards we realize that they go way beyond the pictures that we see. As we use the cards we gain a greater understanding of ourselves and the world around us. We can see the cards as a journey that each of us must take and complete to master the lessons we are here to learn on the earth plane.
In most cases the tarot is viewed as a tool for divination. With a normal tarot reading we have someone who seeks information and answers, in many cases to personal questions and then a reader who knows how to interpret the cards.

A typical reading begins with the person who is seeking answers shuffles the deck and then lays them down on the table and picks out certain cards with them facing down. As these cards are chosen they hand them to the reader who places them down face up on the table in a certain way which is called the spread.

The spread can be any one of a number of patterns each of which has a certain name and are used for various types of readings. One of the most popular spreads is the Celtic cross and is used to give a general reading. But to ensure you receive the best results your Tarot card reader will select the best spread for the question you are asking. For example they will change their layout of the cards for love readings, relationship readings, money readings etc.

Many people can be very concerned when certain cards arise especially the Death card. But as with so many cards including the Death card the meanings are not what you may think and in the case of the Death card this can mean simply the end of a certain part of our lives and rarely has anything to do with our actually dying.

As the Tarot reader lays down the cards they also receive ideas and impressions in their subconscious that helps them answer your question. They are not simply looking at the pictures and giving you the answers otherwise everyone would be reading the cards they are feeling their way and being guided. It is through this combination that they are able to give you the information you seek. We hope this has given you an insight into the Tarot cards and how our gifted readers can gain such insight into your life for you.

Ghost Hunting 101

Do you hear bumps in the night? Does your hair stand on end when you walk into a room? Maybe you feel as if someone is watching you or perhaps you think you see someone out the corner of your eye, but when you turn to look no one is there? What you may be encountering in those unsettling moments is a ghost. So before you go running out of your house screaming, let’s take a moment to talk about ghostly encounters and those that investigate this phenomena.

A ghost is believed to be the spirit or soul of a person who has remained on Earth after death. When a ghost has taken up residence in a location, it is referred to as a haunting. There are two different ways in which a ghost inhabits a location. The most common type of haunting is a residual haunting. A residual haunting is typified by ghostly energy that is static or goes through a number of movements over and over again. It can be likened to watching a movie clip that repeats itself or a record album that has a skip in it, causing the needle to jump back to an earlier point on the album and begin again.

The second classification of haunting is the classic haunting. In a classic haunting the ghost displays intelligence and interacts with the people in the environment. It is not uncommon during a classic haunting for items to be moved around, for lights or electrical appliances to turn on and off, to hear voices our sounds out of nowhere or to be touched, tickled, stroked or even shoved. These ghosts often reflect the personality of an individual, even after their death. With this type of haunting, the aroma of flowers, perfume, cigarette smoke or other scents that are associated with the individual are often detected.

So whether you think you are being haunted by a ghost and want to have a group of trained professionals to come to your home or are interested in investigating all that goes bump in the night, but don’t know where to begin, here’s some information that can help you get started.

It is held that ghosts are electro-magnetic in origin and they create these fields when trying to manifest into this dimension. The energy that is given off by a ghost causes disruptions in the locations magnetic field, thus making it detectable by specialized equipment and psychics alike.

Because the presence of a ghost can be detected by specific types of equipment, a ghost hunter can become well equipped with a number of affordable pieces of equipment, many of which you may already own. From basic to advanced, there are many different types of equipment you can use to detect an otherworldly presence. For someone thinking about participating in an investigation, this doesn’t mean you have to own every piece of equipment in order to perform a reliable investigation. It does mean that you should at least possess a basic set of tools to use.

Basic Equipment

35mm or Digital Camera - For a beginner, having a camera is probably the easiest and least expensive way to begin. Pictures, whether digital or recorded on film can capture paranormal activity, activity that is often invisible to the naked eye. This is especially true in the case of documenting the presence of orbs and ectoplasm.

Notebook and Pen or Pencil - Simple as this may be, it is always a good idea to have something to record any notes, findings or experiences you may have during an investigation.

Flashlight - Many times an investigation will take you to a dark or foreboding location such as a cemetery, old warehouse, abandoned building or other place that is dark or without electricity. In these instances you will need to have a portable light source.

Extra Batteries - Depending on the paranormal activity of a location, batteries oftentimes will mysteriously and unexpectedly lose their charge leaving you in the dark. Regardless of the type of equipment you use, make sure you bring extra batteries along to replenish depleted ones.

Intermediate Equipment

EMF Detector - The Electromagnetic Field Detector is probably one of the most important pieces of equipment to own if you are serious about doing an investigation. In addition to detecting the energy fields of ghosts, it is a key tool to use when taking baseline readings of a site. A baseline reading is a preliminary evaluation of a location, where investigators identify any existing or man made electromagnetic fields such as those created by power lines or electrical appliances.

Digital Video Camera - Video cameras can be a useful investigation tool. Unlike still cameras, a video camera will document any activity in its entirety including the length of time the phenomena occurs, the surrounding conditions, as well as the phenomena itself. A tripod to rest the video camera on is also helpful, especially if it is going to be left in a stationary position to record the activity in a specific location.

Tape Recorder with an External Microphone - There is no better way to capture EVP’s (electronic voice phenomena) than through the use of a tape recorder. Whether using a traditional tape recorder with high quality tapes or a digital recorder, an external microphone should always be used. A detached mic will eliminate the sounds of internal gears and turning wheels that can contaminate your recording.

Advanced Equipment

Motion Detectors - Motion detectors can be used to sense the movement of unseen forces. Many need to be plugged in to an outlet, but battery operated ones are also available. Before you go out and buy one, decide which type will best support you investigatory needs.

Thermal Scanner - A thermal scanner or non-contact thermometer can be used to detect rapid temperature changes. A change of ten degrees or more from the ambient temperature (the temperature of the surrounding area) can indicate an ethereal presence.

Psychics - As An Investigative Tool

In addition to tools such as cameras, meters and gauges that are used by ghost hunters, many groups also utilize the services of trained psychics as a means of gathering information about a site. This is the role I play when working with ghost hunting groups.

Finding a true psychic to work with can be a real asset to the quality of your investigation. They can play an invaluable role in supporting the efforts of any paranormal investigation. Like a good piece of equipment, a psychic can help to detect anomalies as well as provide additional insights into the nature of activity encountered.

If your group decides to include the use of a psychic as part of the investigation team, there are a few items that should be considered. To maximize the objectivity of the investigation, it is critical that the psychic go into a location “cold”. This means that they do not know the details of the location or of any activity that may have been encountered by other members or the property owner. Telling the psychic the history of a property can cause the individual to become “contaminated”, which can make it difficult for them to differentiate what they perceive from what they have been told.

Conducting An Investigation

With at least a basic kit of equipment in hand, you are now ready to explore the world of paranormal phenomena. Before you begin, there are a few ground rules to consider. First, never go on an investigation alone, in addition to personal safety, you never know what may happen. Next, consider the fact that ghost hunting groups are often judged by their behavior and professionalism - so always try to be respectful of the people, places and situations you may encounter.

To do an investigation, the first step is to select a location. Locations can include cemeteries, old buildings, historic sites, private homes and businesses. Always get permission to be on a site. This will keep you from getting in trouble for trespassing. Before you begin a formal investigation it is a good idea to do some research on the site. Talk to the owner, check out old newspapers, or contact the local historic society to see if anything happened there in the past. It is also a good idea to evaluate the terrain for potential hazards or/or to identify places where you can setup stationary video cameras, motion detectors or tape recorders.

Most investigations occur after dark, between the hours of 9pm and 6am. These hours are considered the “psychic hours” and are believed to be the best time to record paranormal activity.

When you get to the selected location, walk around to get a feel for it. Next, set up any stationary equipment and take baseline readings of the site. Then let the investigation begin. Take pictures, shoot video, record for EVP and take meter readings. Take them everywhere and anywhere, especially if you feel something or get a reading on another piece of equipment. When you are done walking around a site, turn your stationary equipment on and let it run while you and your group are out of the area.

When you have finished collecting your data, it is time for analysis. Here each picture, video and tape is reviewed for evidence of a haunting. This is probably the most important part of any investigation. As you review your materials, be skeptical. Look for earthly causes of any phenomena. Was someone smoking in the area? Was the room or location dusty? Where there reflective surfaces that could be the cause of the anomaly in your image? It is important to make sure your evidence will stand up to scrutiny by eliminating any other explanations. This will give your data more credibility.

As you pore over your data, what you will find is that not every location you go to will have ghostly activity. You may discover that many of the things you initially detected during your investigation actually have real world explanations as opposed to supernatural ones. What keeps many ghost hunters going is that one-in-five chance that this investigation will be the “real” thing.

When your analysis is done, presenting your finding to the home or property owner or sharing your results with others is often done. Many groups also post the results of their investigations on their group’s website, thus share the outcome of their investigation with the rest of the world.

If you are interested in ghost hunting or think your have a ghost hanging around in your local, there is a plethora of information available on the worldwide web. Here you can find articles about ghost hunting in general, stories of other people’s ghostly encounters, places that sell ghost hunting equipment and even sites hosted by ghost hunting groups in your geographic area.

So if you think you are hearing bumps in the night, don’t be afraid - it just might be a ghost!

Extrasensory Perception Or ESP | What Is It?

Countless movies, stories, and tales have spun gold out of the concept of extrasensory perception (often referred to as ESP). Consider popular television shows and films like Medium and The Sixth Sense. People are fascinated with the paranormal - Ouija boards and tarot card readings, once considered taboo and even somewhat dark - are now popular games sold in Toys R Us. But with all this talk and publicity, much of the origin and science of extrasensory perception has been obscured. The actual definition of extrasensory perception is the “ability to acquire information by means other than the five canonical senses (taste, sight, touch, smell, and hearing), or any other sense well-known to science (balance, proprioception, etc)”, but there are several different types of ESP, as well as interpretations of it.

Before getting into all the different ideas and challenges associated with extrasensory perception, let’s first consider the history of ESP. The concept itself goes way back, far before popular culture turned it into a cultural phenomenon of sorts. In fact, in many past cultures (i.e. ancient China and Egypt), it was simply expected that people could communicate mentally with others, including the dead, gods, and other supernatural spirits. While this possibility has been heavily criticized as, at best, speculation and at worst, pure superstition, plenty of accounts (both ancient and relatively recent) have described incidents of extrasensory perception, as well as everyday use of it for divination.

So, the big question is: Do people actually have ESP and can it be proved? Many paranormal scientists have run experiments to test the veracity of alleged psychic abilities and many have come out shocked and amazed at the results. It seems that ESP may be a little more likely than anyone previously thought. In fact, some paranormal studies have found that alleged psychics seem able to foretell the contents of sealed envelopes and accurately draw images identical to those of people drawing the same image from a remote locale. Parapsychology (especially the area of extrasensory studies) has grown both in venerability and believer population. In fact, many large universities now have Parapsychology programs including Edinburgh University in Scotland.

Most claims of psychic readings and abilities are similar to the three most commonly reported extrasensory happenings which include telepathy, clairvoyance, and precognition. Telepathy is defined as mental communication between two or more people. It entails one person sending or receiving thoughts to or from another person via some sort of mental or emotional link.

Clairvoyance is often called a “second sight” or a “sixth sense” — that is to say, the person perceives events happening in a location other than his or her present one, without having any previous knowledge of the event. For example, a clairvoyant person may sense that something is wrong with a friend or a family member to find that he or she was in trouble. They also may “know” that their house is being robbed as they are out to dinner. Precognition, on the other hand, is also known as “fortune telling” or “foresight” and entails the ability to know or predict what will happen in the future. Many prophets (including very false ones) have risen to fame - and even religious worship — through their apparent ability to predict the events of the future.

Exploring the Worlds Of the Shaman

Shamanism is not a system of belief or faith, it is a system of knowledge, and is directly experienced first hand by the senses. The world that Shamans work in is not a consensus reality, i.e. what we have agreed is reality. The Shaman sees i.e. experiences with all the senses. The Shaman is the mediator between the ordinary world and an alternate reality.

Shamanism offers a way for people to wake up to their potential, and begin to explore their spiritual relationship to the universe, to other forms of life, and to each other. The experiences which come from shamanism help a person to evolve a deeper bond and respect for all of creation, and from this perspective one is more likely to lead a life that enhances life, with an emphasis on harmony and balance, and which encourages understanding and optimism. The Shamanic path is a path to experience this expanded view of universe.

The origins of shamanism pre-date recorded civilisation and the earliest findings date back forty thousand years. The word Shaman originates from the Tungus people of Siberia, it means ‘One who sees’, and I would like to add to this as someone ‘who sees with the heart’. This brings us to one of the most important characteristics of shamans, that they are masters of energy and of the life-force which moves through the human body and all of creation. They know that there is energy normally invisible which connects all that exists, and they live with the knowledge of this energy and how to use it. This concept of the inter-relationship and understanding that man is a part of nature, not separate to it, a part of the connecting energy has been expressed in many ways and over many cultures, unfortunately not in ours. As Chief Seattle said in 1855 in his address to the American Congress;

“What befalls the Earth befalls all the sons of the Earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life; he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web he does to himself.”

As the Siberian shamans say;

“Everything that is, is alive.”

One of the other important characteristics of a shaman is that a man or woman who journeys into other realities to obtain hidden knowledge and wisdom on behalf of others i.e. in service to the community.

Shamans are masters of altered states of consciousness in which the normal rules of Newtonian three-dimensional existence are broken, and in which travel to other worlds, pre-cognition, distant seeing are all possible. To put another way, the shaman travels outside of time.

Today shamanism survives on all inhabited continents in less ‘developed’ regions in spite of the constant pressure of Western materialism, and the treatment of the Earth and nature as something to be dominated and exploited.

Shamanism is a practice shared by peoples the world over with an underlying cosmology that cuts across cultural differences and customs. There is a common core, and when allowance is made for climatic, cultural, and geographical considerations there is a common experience. To illustrate this, a shaman from the frozen tundra’s of Siberia may not be familiar with the symbols of a shaman from the rainforests of South America, but he or she would certainly recognise the methods and techniques that are being used.

Contemporary shamanism is a path, a way, that we ourselves can be aware that we are a part, a strand in the web of life, and not outside of it. This path can lead us to experience in a practical way the nature of reality, and exceed our perception of the limits of reality.

Shamanism is currently enjoying a revival in the West, one of the factors in this is the re-discovery of health techniques that actively recognise and use the mind and spirit of the individual to help healing and maintain wellness. Many of these methods and the knowledge underlying these are known in ancient shamanic practices which have migrated in to Western society. Increasing numbers of people are seeking and finding solutions to their health problems, whether defined as physical, mental, or emotional. Many shamanic principles are widely used in holistic healing centres and practices.

Another factor in the ‘revival’ of shamanism is that we ourselves as individuals can experience the inter-connectivity, the intricate web of life that unifies all things. Shamanism provides tools and techniques to help you become your own spiritual authority. By journeying to the other realities, extending the perception of perceived reality, individuals can start to see, feel, or sense the one-ness of all things. These new insights and understandings come from within you, and from the teachers and counsellors in these other realities. This is an experiential process, and this means that you know for yourself that these experiences are valid. This is the meaning of a spiritual democracy.

This expanded vision of life, can touch our heart, adding power to our walk in life, and we can move into a harmony and balance with nature, the Earth, and all living things. This not only changes our life perspective, but can also have a beneficial influence on all others, the community around us, which these days (whether we like it or not) is a global one.

The shamanic path is a way to transformation, a personal, and subjective experience to an expanded awareness of this great mystery we call life. Much of our universe which is hidden can be explored, a universe which is known mainly through myth and dream.

EVP Electronic Voice Phenomenon Voices from the Dead

Electronic voice phenomenon, if true, seems to exceed the bounds of what is physically possible; thus, it is of paranormal origin. Colin Smith invented the term to describe speech or sounds resembling speech on recording media that has never been used.

Some researchers speculate that its origins rest in psychokenisis or the voices of spirits. Psychokenisis connotes the ability to move objects with your mind. It concerns the manipulation of matter and energy with just the mind.

Other researchers, more skeptical, point to pareidolia or radio interference. Pareidolia means that you mistakenly perceive images and sounds as being recognizable. A man in the moon, a face in ripples of glass windows, or hearing messages on records played in reverse are keen examples of pareidolia.

Most EVP sounds are in short, abrupt segments, usually the length of a word or phrase; sentences are uncommon, but not unheard of. The segments are frequently heard in the language of the listener.

A psychologist, Konstantin Raudive, conducted over 100,000 recordings under different conditions. His research amassed some conclusions about elements that all EVP sounds share. They used an altered rhythm compared to customary speech, were short in duration and resembled telegram-like speech, did not follow grammatical guidelines and rules, and several languages were heard over the space of a single recording.

Possible explanations, paranormal and non-paranormal, have been proposed and scrutinized by researchers and laymen.

A paranormal explanation, for example, is the idea that bodiless, ethereal spirits, in the absence of their own vocal cords, imprint their messages on recording media through some elusive method. Another is that extraterrestrials communicate, intentionally or accidentally, through some blip in space-time. The third most common idea is psychokenisis in which the subject is said to possess influence over matter with his mind. This term is popular in parapsychology.

Non-paranormal and scientific explanations include interference, pareidolia, capture errors, processing artifacts, and hoaxes. Interference is common when EVP phenomenon is recorded on devices that contain RLC circuitry. The sounds are, evidently, voices and sounds from broadcast radio sources. Capture errors are anomalies created by the overamplification of a signal at the time when it was initially recorded. A plethora of odd noises can result from it. A processing artifact is a sound that results from attempts to boost the clarity of an existing signal. I.e., frequency isolation, re-sampling, and noise reduction and enhancement can all conspire to create a sound that is artificially unique in comparison to the original.

Important researchers of the past and present are notable in the course of your further studies in electronic voice phenomenon. Some names to remember are Attila von Szalay, Raymond Bayless, Alexander MacRae, Judith Chisholm, Konstantin Raudive, Friedrich Jurgenson, Hans Bender, William O’Neil, and Sarah Estep. Many of these researchers made strides in exploring and popularizing EVP, but they don’t represent a good sample of current researchers. This is because there are very few researchers today. There are scant articles in peer-reviewed journals, but EVP continues to be ignored by scientists at large. Experiments have produced mixed results. Despite this, there are several organizations that collect research, articles, photographs, and other media that support the legitimacy of EVP.

In the end it is up to you to decide whether or not electronic voice phenomenon recordings are of paranormal origin or if they have a more mundane explanation.
To learn more about the paranormal world visit the Paranormal and Ghost Forum where you can chat with others and post your paranormal questions and comments. To read more about EVP’s and to hear some examples visit EVP’s - Electronic Voice Phenomenon at True Ghost Tales.
